Auxiliary awards scholarships, sells NMH puzzles

During the December volunteer meeting, John Leonard and Judy Huey were proud to introduce Iris Del Cid Garcia and Summer Black, recipients of the Nacogdoches Auxiliary Nursing Scholarship. Alexis Rodriguez and Melissa Tillman (not pictured) also received funding for nursing school.

The Nacogdoches Memorial Health Auxiliary’s Nursing Scholarship is supported through various fundraising projects, like the gift shop and jewelry sales. Through the generosity of the membership, the scholarship supports full-time undergraduate students pursuing a degree in nursing or a closely related medical field. Each fall and spring semester, the volunteers award up to $2,000 to a maximum of five students for a total annual maximum commitment of up to $20,000. Please note that this amount may vary from year-to-year dependent on the available auxiliary funding.

In support of their fundraising efforts just in time for the holiday season, the Memorial Auxiliary began selling something new – jigsaw puzzles featuring Memorial Hospital. Former board member Patrick Kuhns funded the puzzles, which are being sold for $21.98 in the Auxiliary Gift Shop and at the Nacogdoches Convention and Visitors Bureau.
