Welcome Kandice Johnson, Memorial’s new EVS manager

So far, we’ve made a good impression on Kandice Johnson, our new environmental services manager. “I have worked with thousands of people in my lifetime, but I have to admit that Memorial has the absolute nicest group of individuals that I have ever worked with,” she said after just one week of work at Memorial.

Kandice spent five years working as an operations supervisor and licensed life and health insurance agent in Richardson, TX before starting her journey in healthcare at Parkland Hospital in Dallas in 2018. Born and raised in Mississippi, she has been a resident of Dallas for ten years. She attended Rust College in Holly Springs, the oldest HBCU (Historically Black College/University) in Mississippi.

You might ask what drew her to become an EVS manager, especially in Nacogdoches. “Honestly, I did not choose EVS, EVS chose me!” said Kandice. “I have gained so much knowledge over the last three years and I absolutely love it. I was presented with an opportunity for a change of scenery and Nacogdoches made the shortlist! I’m so happy to be here.”

The most useful advice Kandice has ever gotten fits right in with her recent journey. “No matter where your career leads you, always remain flexible, adaptable, relatable and trainable,” she said. The philosophy she lives and works by is equally relevant. “Commit to being kind, showing integrity and not making excuses.”

Welcome to the family, Kandice!
